Mr. Audumber Virupaksh Basutkar, the Founder of "Basutkar's Pioneer - Orthotics and Prosthetics Center, Solapur" completed his Diploma in Prosthetics and Orthotics in 1980. In the year 1982, there were lots of problems regarding the Prostheses and Orthoses i.e. Artificial devices for the physically challenged persons across India. In those days, getting such highly advanced and modernised artificial devices was a dream for the "Divyangjan Peoples". At that time, divyangas had to do a lot of life-threatening exercise while carrying out their daily routines by maintaining the balance of the body with the help of walking sticks. Using such walking sticks, they were putting themselves at an increased risk of fractures and injuries. At that time, the Orthotic and Prosthetic devices were not affordable to a common man. The price of such devices was quite expensive. Without such artificial devices, lives of these physically challenged persons were at high stake. After realizing the difficulties faced by these persons, Mr. Audumber Basutkar decided to start Basutkar's Pioneer - Prosthetics and Orthotics Center, Solapur in the Heart of Solapur City in 1982. Initially his center organized various camps for the patients who were suffering from the diseases like Polio, Paralysis, Locomotor Disabilities etc. After organizing such camps, Mr. Audumber Basutkar started manufacturing Prosthetic and Orthotic aids or devices for physically challenged persons.
Solapur city is considered as the gateway to Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana State. As the city of Solapur is a central and affordable city for the medical treatment of common people, patients of all these three states including Maharashtra were keep coming in Solapur. Due to all of this, Solapur city was shaping up as a kind of medical hub'. Many renowed surgeons and expert doctors started to open their clinics in Solapur city. Due to the establishment of Solapur as a medical hub, the Basutkar's Pioneer - Prosthetics and Orthotics Center, Solapur of Mr. Audumber Basutkar, who has a Technical Diploma in Prosthetics and Orthotics started getting response from the patients. Mr. Basutkar who has a command in preparing Prosthetic and Orthotic aids at a price that a common man can afford, never stopped caring the patients for the sake of money. On the contrary, he tended to embrace the ever changing advanced and modernized technology for the production of specialized Prosthetic and Orthotic devices. Even though the raw materials required for making these specialized devices were quite expensive, he started fulfilling the needs of his patients at his own expense. This is how he gained the trust among the patients. In this way Mr. Audumber Basutkar became a helping hand for thousands of physically disabled persons and gave them a new hope by giving them a new life.
१९८० च्या दशकात दिव्यांगांसाठी कृत्रिम अवयव मिळणे, हे एक दिव्य स्वप्नच होते. कुबड्यांचा आधार किंवा काठीवर भार देत शरीराचा समतोल राखत, आपली दैनंदिनी पार पाडताना दिव्यांगांना (अपंगांना) मोठी जीवघेणी कसरत करावी लागत होती. एखाद्या धनिकाला महानगरात जावून लाखों रुपये खर्च करून कृत्रिम अवयव बसविणे शक्य असायचे. मात्र सर्वसामान्यांचे भयंकर हाल व्हायचे. मरण परवडले, परंतु अपंग म्हणून जगणे नको. अशा काळात १९८२ मध्ये प्रसिद्ध प्रोस्थेटिस्ट अँड ऑर्थोटिस्ट, श्री. औदुंबर बासूतकर यांनी सोलापूर येथील एम्प्लॉयमेंट चौकात ‘बासूतकरांचे पायोनिअर - प्रोस्थेटिस्ट अँड ऑर्थोटिक्स सेंटर, सोलापूर’ हे छोटेखानी क्लिनिक सुरू केले. सुरुवातीला पोलिओग्रस्त, लकवा, मतिमंद, अपघातग्रस्त रुग्णांना पूरक ठरणारे साहित्य निर्मितीवर त्यांनी भर दिला.

अश्या किंमतीत पूरक साहित्य तयार करून देण्यात हातखंडा असलेल्या श्री. बासूतकर यांनी कधीही पैश्यासाठी
रुग्णांची
अडवणूक केली नाही. याउलट, सतत बदलते तंत्रज्ञान आत्मसात करण्याकडे त्यांचा कल राहिला. प्रसंगी दिव्यांग
रुग्णांसाठी पूरक साहित्य बनविताना लागणारे रॉ-मटेरियलची (कच्च्या मालाची) किंमत जास्त असली, तरी देखील
स्वतः झळ
सोसून ते
रुग्णाची गरज पूर्ण करू लागले. यातूनच त्यांनी रुग्णांचा विश्वास संपादन केला. श्री. औदुंबर बासूतकर हे एकाच

श्री. औदुंबर बासूतकर यांनी सुरू केलेल्या रुग्णसेवेच्या कार्याला पुढे
नेण्यासाठी आता त्यांचे सुपुत्र, श्री. उत्सव बासूतकर
सज्ज झाले आहेत. बारावीपर्यंतचे शिक्षण सोलापुरातच घेतलेल्या, श्री. उत्सव बासूतकर यांनी मुंबई येथील All
India Institute of Physical Medicine and Rehabiliation [AIIPMR] या Institute मधून,
प्रोस्थेटिक्स आणि ऑर्थोटिक्स
मधील पदवी प्राप्त केली. त्यानंतर, त्यांनी
न्यूझीलंडच्या "तोई ओहमाई इन्स्टिट्यूट ऑफ
टेक्नॉलॉजी" या संस्थेतून "Diploma in Health and Rehabilitation Course" केला. त्यांनी "Ottobock" चेंबूर,
मुंबई या संस्थेतून Internship केली. सन 2017 मध्ये, त्यांनी न्यूझीलंड या देशातील वेलिंग्टन मधील "Orthopro
Clinic" येथे 2017 साली, प्रोस्थेटिक्स आणि ऑर्थोटिक्स या अत्याधुनिक क्षेत्रामध्ये काम केले.
श्री. उत्सव बासूतकर यांनी कोरोनाच्या
पहिल्या लाटेत न्यूझीलंडमध्ये कार्यरत असलेल्या स्वयंसेवी संस्थेच्या माध्यमातून मोठे रुग्णोपयोगी कार्य
केले
आहे. अत्याधुनिक तंत्रज्ञानाची खरी गरज सोलापूर येथे आहे हे लक्षात आल्याने, न्यूझीलंडमधील काम सोडून
श्री. उत्सव बासूतकर हे कोरोनाच्या दुसऱ्या लाटेदरम्यान सोलापुरात परतले.
त्यांनी कृत्रिम अवयवाच्या निर्मितीचे
अद्ययावत तंत्रप्रशिक्षण घेतलेले असल्याने, सोलापूर सारख्या ठिकाणी अद्ययावत असे कृत्रिम अवयव सहजपणे उपलब्ध
व्हावेत, ही त्यांची तळमळ होती. अशा रितीने, त्यांनी वडीलांचा वारसा सोलापूरातच पुढे चालविण्याचे ठरवले आणि
बासूतकरांचे पायोनिअर - प्रोस्थेटिक्स आणि ऑर्थोटिक्स सेंटर, सोलापूर अद्ययावत केले. सुरुवातीपासूनच,
श्री. उत्सव बासूतकर यांनी
"प्रोस्थेटिक्स आणि ऑर्थोटिक्स" या विभागात उच्च तंत्रज्ञानाचा वापर करून कृत्रिम पाय तयार करून देण्याचा
विडा
उचलला आणि त्यांचे हे धोरण सोलापूर शहर व जिल्ह्यातील अनेक दिव्यांगांसाठी सत्यात उतरले. श्री. बासूतकर
यांच्या
पायोनिअर मध्ये अगदी वाजवी दरात कृत्रिम पाय तयार करून मिळतात, ही सर्वांत मोठी उपलब्धी मानली जाते.
त्यासाठी मुंबई, चेन्नई, हैदराबाद, बंगळुरू, दिल्ली, जयपूर सारख्या महागड्या शहरात रुग्णांना जाण्याची
आवश्यकता नाही. अर्थात, कृत्रिम अवयव
बनविण्यासाठी वापरात येणारे रॉ-मटेरियल विदेशातून मागवावे लागत असल्याने, सोलापूरसाठी दळणवळणाची मोठी
अडचण
सध्या
बासूतकरांचे पायोनिअर समोर आहे. मात्र, या अडचणीवर देखील मात
करीत पायोनिअरचा प्रवास सुरु आहे.

I completed "Bachelor In Prosthetics and Orthotics"
[BP&O] (कृत्रिम अवयव योजनशास्त्र आणि अस्थीविज्ञान स्नातक) from All India Institute
for Physical Medicine and Rehabilation [AIIPMR] in 2016. I did Intership in
"Ottobock" Chembur, Mumbai. I worked as a Prosthetist and Orthotist in
"Orthopro Clinic" placed at Welington City of Newzeland from 2017-2019. In 2019, I
joined Basutkar's Pioneer - Prosthetics and Orthotics Clinic, Solapur since then, I have been an
amazing part of
this Modernized and Visionary Clinic.
In 2019, Mr. Utsav Basutkar returned form Newzeland with a vision to incorporate the knowledge gained at the international level in subject of Prosthetics and Orthotics in India moreover in our own city Solapur. Nowdays, there are lots of highly technological equipments are developed in different types of countries to give an easy access to physically challenged persons. Many Internaltional Companies are manufacturing these devices to make it safe and effective for rehabilation of the "Divyangjan Peoples". With this motto, Mr. Utsav Basutkar Established a New Center in 'Twin City' of Solapur with fully eqipped and furnished workshop at "52, Vishal Nagar, Near Dawat Chowk, Behind Wagaj Classes, Jule Solapur, Vijapur Road, Solapur, Maharashtra, India 413004."
